Myanmar is located in southeast Asia between Thailand, China and India. Due to its rapid changes and openess, many see it as the next frontier of business opportunities. CNN and Lonely Planet chose Myanmar as the world's number 2 best destinations 2012. Being the 40th largest country and 25th most populated, Myanmar has so much room for growth. Tanintharyi Region lies at the southern end of Myanmar. The Region has common borders with Thailand on the east and south-east, Mon State on the north, and Andaman Sea on the west. The area of the Region is 16,735 square miles. Out of about 1,000 islands along Myanmar's coastline over 800 are in Tanintharyi coast. Dawei is the Capital of Tanintharyi Region.
 
The first Myanmar documentary film was made during 1919, by U Ohn Maung. He studied photography and the nature of making films. The subject of the documentary was about Myanmar Export and Traditional cottage industries like Lacquerware production, Pathein parasol (umbrella) makings and Mandalay Silk textiles.
 

Yangon Region

Yangon Region has the main port Yangon. The City lies where 16o 19'N latitude intersects 96o 52'E longitude. Yangon Region is located at the eastern extremity of the Ayeyarwaddy Delta area with Andaman Sea on the south-east, Bago Region on the north and Ayeyarwaddy Region on the west.
 

Philippines2

The Philippine Islands became a Spanish colony during the 16th century; they were ceded to the US in 1898 following the Spanish-American War. In 1935 the Philippines became a self-governing commonwealth. Manuel Quezon was elected President and was tasked with preparing the country for independence after a 10-year transition. In 1942 the islands fell under Japanese occupation during WWII, and US forces and Filipinos fought together during 1944-45 to regain control. On 4 July 1946 the Philippines attained their independence. The 21-year rule of Ferdinand Marcos ended in 1986, when a widespread popular rebellion forced him into exile and installed Corazon Aquino as president. Her presidency was hampered by several coup attempts, which prevented a return to full political stability and economic development. Fidel Ramos was elected president in 1992 and his administration was marked by greater stability and progress on economic reforms. In 1992, the US closed its last military bases on the islands. Joseph Estrada was elected president in 1998, but was succeeded by his vice-president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, in January 2001 after Estrada's stormy impeachment trial on corruption charges broke down and widespread demonstrations led to his ouster. Macapagal Arroyo was elected to a six-year term in May 2004. The Philippine Government faces threats from armed communist insurgencies and from Muslim separtists in the south.
 

Magway Region

Magway Region falls in the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar, bordering Mandalay Region on the east, Sagaing Region on the north, Chin State and Rakhine State on the west and Bago Region on the south. Its area is 17,305 square miles and its Capital is Magway City.
 

Laos2

Laos was under the control of Siam (Thailand) from the late 18th century until the late 19th century when it became part of French Indochina. The Franco-Siamese Treaty of 1907 defined the current Lao border with Thailand. In 1975, the Communist Pathet Lao took control of the government, ending a six-century-old monarchy. Initial closer ties to Vietnam and socialization were replaced with a gradual return to private enterprise, a liberalization of foreign investment laws, and the admission into ASEAN in 1997.
 

Bago Region

Bago Region is located between Mandalay Region and Magwe Region in the north, Rakhine State and Ayeyarwaddy Region in the west, Yangon Region in the south, Kayin State and Mon State on the east. Its area is 15,214 square miles and its Capital is Bago City.
 

Myanmar Candy

Toddy palm plantation is a thriving commercial undertaking in Central Myanmar. Jaggery, a popular sweetmeat akin to candy, is the major product derived from toddy juice. Toddy juice is poured into big cauldrons and boiled on huge open fire and stirred until it becomes a sticky dough. Then it is cooled and moulded into the shapes desired. Enterprising candy makers add sesame seeds, shredded coconuts or ground red plums to offer a variety of flavours.
 
Ayeyarwaddy Region covers the deltaic coast of the Ayeyarwaddy River. on the northwest and west of this division are the Bay of Bengal and Rakhine State, on the north and east is Bago Division, on the east is the Yangon Division, and on the south is the Andaman Sea.
 

Myanma Laphet

Myanmar are fond of the pickled tea, laphet, which is a traditional delicacy. The pickled tea, mixed with fried garlic, sesame and groundnut, is served at merit sharing ceremonies and weddings. It depicts friendship and hospitality. We invite you to visit our hill ranges where tea is grown. Myanma Green Tea

The first and fore most origin of the tea is found in the source of Ayeyarwaddy and spreading the surrounding areas, such as Myanmar Assam border areas, Naga Land, Manipur and Lashi ranges in the eastern parts of Myanmar. In the western parts, China, Northern plateaus of Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
 

Rakhine State

Rakhine State is located between 17o 21'N and 21o 24 'N latitudes and 92o 10 'E and 94o 54 'E longitudes bordering Bangladesh on the north-west, Chin State on the north, Magway Division, Bago Division and Ayeyarwaddy Division on the east and the Bay of Bengal on the west and south.
 

Myanma Betel

Betel is an evergreen Indo-Malayan climbing or trailing shrub (Piper betel), having usually ovate leaves used to wrap betel nuts.
 

Mon State

Mon State is located between 14o 52'N and 17o 44'N latitudes and 96o 53'E and 98o 13'E longitudes bounded on the north by Bago Division, on the east Kayin State, on the south by Tanintharyi Division and on the west by the Gulf of Martaban.

Chin State

Chin State is located in the north-west of Myanmar between 20o 40 'N and 24o 06'N latitudes and 92o 37'E and 94o 09'E longitudes. To the north and east of Chin State is Sagaing Division, to the south are Magway Division and Rakhine State, to the west are Bangladesh and India. The area of the State is 13,907 square miles, Capital is Hakhar and State Day is 20th February.
 
Myanmar people eat rice everyday together with curries. Myanmar people also like to cook rice together with coconut or butter. First, pour some butter into the pan and heat. Then fried some leaves and sesame. When it’s smell is good, add flour tin of rice. Add salt, sugar and mix thoroughly. After a few minutes, pour them into the pot. Add some water to reach 1 inch above of rice. Bring it to boil and stir. When it is nearly cooked, add dried grapes. Cook the rice with heat above and under for half an hour. Now, this is delicious Myanmar meal.
 

Kayin State

Kayin State lies between 15o 12'N and 19o 28'N latitudes and 96o 23'E and 98o 56'E longitudes on the east of Myanmar. It has common borders with Mandalay Division and Shan State on the north, Kayah State and Thailand on the east, Mon State and Bago Division on the west. Its area is 11,731 square miles.
 
Coconut can be prepared into milk in every market. Or you can buy ready made coconut milk or cream at super markets. First, clean rice and pour ready prepared coconut milk into the pot. Add sugar, salt and onion. Put the pot on the stove and stir when it boils.
 

Kayah State

Mateku Falls and Lawpita Falls on Balu Chaung are scenic beauties of Kayah State, which has a generally hilly topography. It is located between 18o 29'N and 19o 58'N latitudes, 96o 50'E and 97o 52'E longitudes, bordering Thailand on the east, Shan State on the north, and Karen State on the west and south. The Lawpita Hydroelectric Power Plant is the main power supply station throughout the country.

Kachin State

Kachin State is the land of mountain ranges where the May Hka and the Mali Hka rivers are born. It is located in the north and north-east of Myanmar between 23o 38'N and 28o 31'N latitudes and 95o 48'E and 98o 47'E longitudes.
 
Bamboo-tube sticky rice which we called Kauk Nyin Kyidauk, is one of the favourite seasonal food among many traditional foods made with Myanmar rural products.

There are various types of bamboo in Myanmar, among them, “ Tin-wa” “ pencil tube bamboo” is used in making Bamboo-tube sticky rice.

Old-age bamboo and newly fresh sticky rice are used to get an aromatic seasonal food called Bamboo-tube sticky rice.

 
Myanmar has seven states and seven regions. The regions were called divisions prior to August 2010. The Regions and States are headed by
 

Mann Ma-yway

Mann Ma-yway, a snack made of glutinous rice and palm sugar, is mostly sold at rural markets and pagoda festivals in Myanmar. It is also called Ma-yway-gyi in some regions. Made of puffed glutinous rice and palm sugar, it is sweet, delicious and crispy and consumed by old and young, alike.
 

Shan State

Shan State is located in the Middle Eastern part of Myanmar between 19o 17'N and 24o 13'N latitudes and 96o 10'E and 101o 11'E longitudes. It is bounded on the northeast by the People's Republic of China, on the southeast and south by Laos and Thailand, on the north by Kachin State, Sagaing and Karen State on the south.

Sagaing Region is situated in the north-west of Myanmar between Chin State on the west, Kachin State on the north-east, Shan State on the east and Magway Region and Mandalay Region on the south. With an area of 36,535 square miles, Sagaing Region is the largest among all Region. The Capital of Sagaing Region is Sagaing.
