A Monsari Village Street Scene
Day 1
Yangon-Bago-Kyaikhtiyo
After breakfast at the hotel, road to an ancient
Mon and Burman capital of Bago, 80 km (1hr 30 mins) drive from Yangon. On the way, drop by
the Htaukkyant WW II memorial Cemetery with the graves of some 27,000 Allied
soilders who died in Myanmar and Assam campaigns of WW II. Visit to 15th
century Kyaik Pun pagoda; a huge reclining Buddha image of
Shwethaluaung pagoda from the end of 10th century; over a thousand
years old Shwemawdaw paya and lunch at Kyaw Swa restaurant.
Proceed to Kyaikhtiyo or Golden Rock Pagoda, an elevation 1,200 meters above sea level in
Mon State.Take the local pick-up truck from Kimpun base to the halfway of the mountain and
then hike-up on foot to the hotel. Dinner & overnight at the htoel.
Day 2 Kyaikhtiyo-Hpa An
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to one of the
wonders of the world, the Golden Rock Pagoda perched at the top of the highest
point of the mountain ridge. Visit the surrounding areas on foot and lunch at a local
restaurant. Checkout the hotel and drive to Hpa An, the capital of Kayin State which is
recently opened to the tourists. On the way, stop to see the Bayintnyi
limestone cave and hot spring famous for its 900 years old tragic story. Proceed to Hpa An
and check-in to the hotel. In the evening, explore the downtown and scenic
Salween river. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Hpa An.
Day 3 Trekking Mt. Zwekabin & Visiting typical Karen villages
After breakfast at the hotel, drive 11 km to the
eastern foot of Mt. Zwekabin, the distinct land mark not only to the Kayin people but also
the trade mark of the State. Trek around 2 hours to reach the peak where you can enjoy the
panoramic view of the area from 800 meters above the sea level. After taking brief rest,
trek down along the west path for another 2 hours. Lunch at Monsari Karen
village and study the customs, ways of life and their traditions. Continue visit to
another Karen village called Hputaki where all the villagers are vegetarians.
There all the men wear ear ornaments on both sides, keep long hair, wear head bands and
their traditional costumes. Return to Hpa An, dinner at a restaurant and overnight in Hpa
An.

Day 4 Hpa An- Mawlamyaing (Moulmein)
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Mawlamyaing, the
capital of Mon State. On the way visit to Saddan lime stone cave, where its
interior is decorated by the carvings and natural decorations copied from Jataka, the
pageants of Buddhas life. Proceed to the capital by passing through Karen villages,
rivers and scenic reefer lime stone hills. Lunch at a local restaurant and check-in to the
hotel. In the evening, exploring the third largest city in Myanmar where once was British
Burmas administrative center between 1872 & 1852 as well as fisrt British
settlement; and enjoy the sunset view from Yankin hill whose hilltop location offers
splendid views over the city and its harbor. D inner at a local restaurant and overnight
in Mawlamyaing.
Day 5 Mawlamyaing Environs
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Thanbyuzayat, 65
km south of Mawlamyaing. Visit to large & well-kept war cemetery, buried there are
Allied prisoners-of war who died constructing the World War II railroad to Thailand for
Japanese. Lunch at a local restaurant and proceed to Kyaikkame (Amherst) to see Ye
le Paya situated in the out-shore of the Gulf of Martaban. Return to Mawlamyaing, on
the way visit to Setse beach where there was a blusting holiday center during
the British colonial period; and short stops en route. Dinner at a local restaurant and
overnight in Myawlamyaing.
Day 6 Mawlamyaing-Yangon
After breakfast at the hotel, drive back to
Yangon. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way and arrives in the evening.
