Steamed Train Tours Day Return Trip (stmtt1d.rmp) Yangon-Bago-Nyaungkharshae-Bago-Yangon A special trip
by the steam engined train Early in the morning after breakfast, meet with the local tour guide at the hotel and drive to Bago, the ancient capital of Mons as well as Burmans was an important sea port in the old times which is situated 80 km north of Yangon. Just before entering Bago, visit to the 'Kyaik Pun' Paya from 15th century; 'Shwethalyaung' reclining Buddha image, which is reputed to be one of the largest as well as the most life-like of all reclining Buddhas, and is dated back to 994 AD while the Mon King 'Mingalardepa II' was reigned. Bago-Nyaungkharshae-Bago Proceed to Bago railway station for the trip to 'Nyaungkharshae' (some 48 km from Bago) and get the ride in the chartered carriage fastened to the steam engined. Exploring the countryside between the Bago Yoma and Sittaung River, one of the most intensive rice-cultivating regions of Myanmar. After arriving Nyaungkharshae, walking tour around the village, watching the cheerfulness of country people and their ways of life for an hour. Return to Bago and lunch on board. Bago-Yangon Before returning to Yangon, visit to the 'Great Golden God Pagoda' which is said to be over 1000 years old was built by the Mons. Drive back to Yangon and transfer to the hotel. Note : Package required minimum 10 paying pax and it is suitable to use Upper Class carriage (with reclining seats) or Ordinary carriage (with fixed wooden seats). |
