A Guided Tour Program
Day 1
Yangon Arrival
Arrive Yangon international airport and welcomed by tour agency. On the way to hotel,
visit to the 'Chaukhtatgyi' reclining Buddha image and then check-in to the hotel. City
tour around the downtown of Yangon, 'Sule Paya' which legend says 2000 years old; unlikely
built 'Botataung' paya where the stupa has a hollow passage containing many of the ancient
relics and artifacts. In the evening , visit to the world famous 'Shwedagon' Paya and
enjoy the sunset from 'Shwedagon' Paya. Welcome traditional dinner with cultural dances at
'Lonmalay' restaurant and overnight in Yangon.
Day 2
Yangon-Bago-Pyinmana
Early in the morning after the
breakfast at the hotel, drive to Bago, 80 km north of Yangon to catch the train for
Pyinmana. Transfer to the railway station, get on board the chartered carriage which is
fastened to the steam engine and drive to Pyinmana (32 km per hour maximum speed).
Sightseeing, relaxing, dreaming along the way and lunch on board. Arrive Pyinmana in the
late evening, transfer to the 'Phoenix' hotel and dinner at 'Shin Nyein' Myanmar food
restaurant. Overnight in Pyinmana.
Day 3
Pyinmana-Bagan
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer
to the Pyinmana railway station. The carriage will be fastened to the '25 Up' Yangon-Bagan
Express Train and lunch on board. Exploring while the train is driving through the 'Pago
Yoma' mountain range and central dry zone. Arrive Bagan in the evening, enjoy the famous
Bagan sunset from 'Shwesandaw' Paya and transfer to the hotel. Dinner at 'Sithu'
restaurant with 'Puppet' show and overnight in Bagan.
Day 4
Bagan
After the breakfast at the hotel,
visit to the 'Nyaung U' market; a beautifully proportioned with sand stones and the most
sacred Paya in Bagan among Buddhist pilgrims, the 'Shwezigon' Paya; the 'Kyansitthar' cave
temple from 11th century, where the monks used as a meditation centre; the 'Htilominlo'
temple from early 13th century with fine plaster carvings; the most beautiful and famous
'Ananda' temple. Lunch at a riverside restaurant of 'Sunset Garden' and visit to the
famous Myanmar 'Lacquerware' industry at new Bagan. Afternoon sightseeing around the
Myinkabar village such as 'Manuha' temple which was named after the captived Mon king
Manuha from Thaton; an early 12th century temple, 'Gubyaukgyi' temple with the finest
paintings in Bagan; 'Mingalarzedi' stupa, which is the proto-type of Myanmar stupas with
the stair ways to the terraces where you can see the pagodas of Bagan from the height; the
biggest, finest in the brickworks and pyramid shaped 'Dhammayangyi' temple. Enjoy the
sunset from the boat on the famous 'Ayeyarwaddy' river, dinner at the 'Ruby True' hotel
and stay overnight in Bagan.
Day 5
Bagan-Mandalay
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer
to the Bagan railway station to leave Bagan for Mandalay by the '119 Up' train with the
private carriage. Lunch on board and arrive Mandalay in the evening. Transfer to the
hotel, visit to the Mandalay Hill and watch the romantic sunset from the hilltop. Dinner
at 'Eternal' restaurant and overnight in Mandalay.
Day 6
Mandalay
The whole day sightseeing of Myanmar
'Second Capital' as well as the centre of classical art, music and culture, after the
breakfast at the hotel. Visit to 'Mahamuni' or 'Big Paya' which is the most holiest
religious site of upper Myanmar; Bronze casting workshop of Buddha images; famous
'Tapestry' industry and the trade centre of upper Myanmar, the 'Zaycho' market. Lunch at
'BBB' restaurant and afternoon sightseeing to 'Myanansankyaw' Palace site from Koungboung
dynasty; 'Golden Palace' monastery or 'Shwe Kyaung' which is covered inside and out side
with the fine wood carvings; 'The world's biggest book' or 'Kuthodaw' Paya where the
entire Buddhist canon was inscribed on the marble slabs; 'Kyauktawgyi' Paya with the big
Buddha image carved from single block of marble stone. Dinner at the 'Golden Duck'
restaurant and overnight in Mandalay.
Day 7
Mandalay-Mingun-Mandalay-Yangon
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer
to the jetty to take 11 km upriver boat trip to 'Mingun' village. Visit to the unfinished
and the world's largest pile of bricks, 'Mingun Paya' which was built with thousands of
labourers; 'The world's largest hung, uncracked 'Mingun Bell'; the beautiful stupa of
'Myatheindan' Paya and return to Mandalay. Lunch at 'Emerald Green' restaurant and
transfer to Mandalay airport to fly back to Yangon. Arrive Yangon airport and transfer to
the hotel, evening sightseeing around the down town area by walking. Farewell dinner at
'Shan Kan' restaurant and overnight in Yangon.
Day 8
Yangon Departure
Breakfast at the hotel, visit to the
'Bogyoke Aung San' or 'Scott' Market, 'National Museum' and then transfer to the Yangon
international airport for departure.
Note : The followings
are the suggested accommodations only. Overnight in the carriage at the tourist
destination is prohibited so far!
