Superlatives of Myanmar

The Oldest Wooden Bridge

U Pane Bridge is said to be the oldest wooden bridge in Myanmar. It also is a tourist interest site and it's nice to be there when you get to Mandalay.

The Largest Temple

Mingun Temple is to be the largest temple in Myanmar. It was designed to be about 200 feet high, however construction stopped. And the remains are only 90 feet high. This temple was built about 200 years ago by King Bodaw Pharar (1782-1819). It could have been the highest building in Asia during that time. (Borobudur in Indonesia is 103 feet high.)

The Largest Lions

The largest lions were built of marble and they are also in Mingun.

The Largest Buddha
The Largest Reclining Buddha
The Largest Sitting Buddha

Tallest Woman

Tallest woman known in Myanmar is (Ms.) Zee Kwet Sein from the town of Bagan. She was 7' 3" tall, and lost her vision at the age of 24. She died in the late 70s and people in her neighbourhood erected a marker with an owl on top of it at her birth place, which stood there till today.
