National Kandawgyi Garden
National Kandawgyi Garden was also known as Maymyo botanical garden, Mandalay.
It is located in Pyin Oo Lwin (also called Maymyo) town of Mandalay division. The garden covers an area of 344.81 acres. It was established in 1915.
In order to serve as a recreation center for the public and to carry out educational activities related to conservation of trees and forests so that people will become interested and appreciate the values of trees and flowers, the Garden was created.
National Kandawgyi Garden assists botanists and researchers with their studies concerning about plants and trees. There are a lot of data to collect and reproduce rare and endangered plant species for their perpetual existence, conduct research activities and assist the development of ecotourism industry.
The Garden contains about 344 species of plants about 5000 trees and 42 species of indigenous orchids and other flower.
The wildlife of this garden is inland indigenous birds, swans, reptiles, small mammal species and insects are present.
National Kandawgyi Garden is maintained and improved of completed landscaping activities with advanced technology to implement environment and nature conservations.
