Myanmar Script Development

Myanmar script grew and derived from Brahmi script from India. The Myanmar language is now almost 1000 years old, and its development started from about 12th century AD.

Earliest Script

The first Myanmar script ever found was a brief Myanmar phrase quoted within a Mon stone inscription. That was Myakan Mon stone inscription by King Kyansitthar saying "Maha Nibban Letswe Chi Ye".

Adopted Words

Even though some are not directly adopted, they seems somehow related.

Time doesn't matter in Myanmar for greetings. Myanmar people say the same word wheter it's in the morning, afternoon, or an evening.

Possible relationship between Myanmar and Native American languages (Navaho and Apache, etc.)

Some famous linguists like Edwin Pulleyblank believe that there are certain relationship between Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman and the Athabascan group of Native American languages, including Navaho, Apache, Eskimo ethnic tribes.

In 1480 A.D, Dhammazedi, King of the Mon People of Myanmar had a vast bell cast in bronze and given to the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon (then known as Dagon). According to texts of the time, the bell was cast of 180,000 vies of metal which included silver and gold as well as copper and tin. (One ton equals approximately 600 viss so the bell was cast from about 300 tons ol metal).
