Kachin State

The State capital is Myitkyina and the 10th January is the State day. Kachin State has three dams: the Paungnet-chaung Dam, Putao Dam and Washawng Dam. Natural resources of Kachin State include gold, silver, copper, iron, lead, amber, jade, crystal and coal. Sahmaw State sugar mill and Namti State sugar mill supply sugar for home consumption. Famous and rare Myanmar orchids are found in Kachin State. The highest mountain of Myanmar, Hkakaborazi lies in this state. Khakaborazi national park is located in Naungmung township of Kachin state, the northernmost state of Myanmar.

Kayah State

The State, whose capital is Loikaw, celebrates its State Day on 15th January. Antimony, pure silver, tin, tungsten and wolfram are found in Kayah State. Well known industries are Mawchi Mines, Lawpita Hydro-electric Power Station and Marbel Works. The State also boasts of beautiful natural sceneries, idyllic lakes and wonderful natural carves.

Kayain State

It has common borders with Mandalay Division and Shan State on the north, Kayah State and Thailand on the east, Mon State and Bago Division on the west. The State has 13 State enterprises and is easily accessible from Mon State via the well-Known Donthami river bridge. Mount Zwegabin is the landmark of Kayin State.


Chin State

To the north and east of Chin State is Sagaing Division, to the south are Magway Division and Rakhine State, to the west are Bangladesh and India. Chin State is inhabited by different Chin tribes, Nagas, Rakhines and Myanmarns in nine Townships and 505 Wards and Village-Tracts. The 605 square miles of Forest Reserves in Chin State produce valuable scented woods, teak, pine and cane.

Mon State

Mon State Day falls on 19th March. Principal crops of the State are paddy, groundnut, pulses, rubber, sugar-cane, coconut, betel nut, dhani, durian, rambutan and mangos teen. The State is the top producer of rubber. As manufacturing establishments, there are the Sittang Pulp and Paper Mill, Billin Sugar Mill, Thanbyuzayat Rubber Factory, Mudon Textile Mill and Mupon Ceramics Factory.

Rakhine State

There are 17 Townships and 1,160 Wards and Village Tracts in Rakhine State. The State Day is 15th December. The Kissapanadi river runs through the state, giving water for plantation. Oil exploration is in progress along Rakhine offshore. Rathetaung Township, Baronga Island, Cheduba Island, Ramree Island and Muwe island produce some oil. Coal is found in Sittwe Township and marble in Taungup Township. Kyaukpyu port is a good international freighter port. At one time Rakhine State was a populous State with many capital cities of Rakhine Kings.

Shan State

The State Day is 7th February. In order to further develop agriculture in Shan State, Heho Valley Irrigation Canal, Banyin Irrigation Canal, and many more irrigation systems. Kakku Pagodas are ancient places of the Shan State.
