On completion of all the sluice gates, 142,000 acres of land will become valuable farmland in Bago-Sittaung canal region. These are practical measures for farmers and rural people.

The sluice gate projects of the State are emerging one after another and once wetlands have become cultivable valuable farmlands. The sluice gates preventing salty water and silt from flowing to the region. Farmers will have a lot of benefits, for they can store fresh water. At a time when the State is systematically fulfilling the requirements of the respective regions for development of agriculture sector, local farmers are to effectively utilize these opportunities created by the State, to strive for development of agricultural works with might and main and to cooperate with the government harmoniously after accepting its correct leadership. The State is giving encouragement to development of agriculture sector which is the main economy of rural areas, livestock breeding sector and other production.
