Botahtaung Pagoda

The Botataung Pagoda was named after the thousand military leaders who escorted relics of the Buddha brought from India over two thousand years ago. It is situated way downtown beside the Yangon River. The Botataung Pagoda was a famous Land-mark on Yangon's waterfront. Pagoda is hollow inside and you can walk through it.

Inside the pagoda, there is a Buddha Image.
 

The entrance to the pagoda. The gate of this pagoda is strangely guarded by dragons.
 
The Buddha's tooth relic in the main paogda.

The statue of Sakkra (or) Thagyar Min, in the pagoda's compound.
 
The statue of Saraswati (or) Thuya Thathi Meldaw, in the pagoda's compound. She is known to be guardian of the Three Pitakats.
 
Ahmagyi Mya Nan Nwe, a devotee to the Botahtaung Pagoda. She was known to be a dragon guarding the pagoda. Hundreds of people come to this place to donate offertories and also to ask for blessing of the sister.
 
The pillars inside the main pagoda, decorated with Colourful Myanmar Mosaic.
The Entrance also have a guardian lion as the usual pagodas.
 
Vendors of Coconut, Bananas, shawls, candles, and other offertries, just outside the pagoda.
