Myanmar 3 Unicode font has been developed for all of us by the non-profit NGO Myanmar Computer Federation [http://www.myanmarnlp.net.mm].

It was released on 14-Dec-2007 at the opening of Yadanabon Cybercity. It is being distributed as an opensource software, licensed under GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).

This system is going to be included in the next versions of all computer operating systems as an ISO standard, including Microsoft Windows, Apple, Linux, etc.

WARNING:
  • Hybrid-Myanmar unicode fonts (such as. Zawgyi, ZawgyiOne fonts) are not ISO-standard, not Unicode compliant, not systematic nor structured.
  • These hybrid fonts are clicking time-bombs! They are disasters for your future. They are just temporary solutions.
  • As soon as Microsoft Windows or all other operating include the Myanmar language  support, all the systems and all the web sites you have developed using Zawgyi will go crash (unreadable). Lots of your work will go down the drain. It is because they are violating many Unicode development guidelines.
  • We have warned about this in the local media a long time ago. Don't allow their mistakes become your mistakes. Are you willing to waste your time? Your work? Your money?
  • Upgrade to Unicode-compliant ISO standard systems such as Myanmar3 and other new alternatives which are 100% Unicode-compliant.
